SharePoint/OneDrive & Intune Migration
You have been sent this document because the way you access your systems/shared documents will be changing. We will be providing dates for the migration shortly. It’s very important that you read and understand this document prior to the migration to make sure you are prepared for the change.
Previously your shared data was stored on your Remote Desktop Servers. These will be migrated to cloud storage called SharePoint.
SHAREPOINT / ONE DRIVE?
Organizations use Microsoft SharePoint to create websites. You can use it as a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information from any device. All you need is a web browser, such as Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox.
One Drive is essentially an online folder system for file storage and makes the information stored in SharePoint easily accessible through a traditional folder structure that you saw when accessing the old mapped network drives.
HOW WILL THE MIGRATION AFFECT YOU?
Your workstations have already been configured with Microsoft Outlook and One Drive Access. We will be scheduling the migration over a weekend, during this weekend the remote desktop servers will be unavailable. When you return to work on the Monday morning you will no longer work from the remote desktop server but from your local device
Below are the changes that will affect you
- Access to the Documents Library in SharePoint will be configured through One Drive.
- Any files and folders that were on your Desktop or My Documents in the Remote Desktop Server will have been migrated to One Drive which will synchronise with your Desktop and My Documents.
ACCESSING COMPANY DOCUMENTS
To access One Drive, open File Explorer
Then on the left hand side you will see a list of common directories, within this you will see a folder called “Discover the World Ltd”
Within here you will see a “Company Data – Documents” where you will see a folder list of everything you previously saw in the mapped network drives.
You can also access this information via a web browser. In an internet browser go to the following link:
You will then be displayed with the following page:
Navigate to ‘Documents’ on the left hand side
ACCESSING PERSONAL DOCUMENTS
As above go to the same place in file explorer, however select OneDrve - Discover the World ltd
